Jupiter Island Friends and Residents:
This is a friendly reminder to make your voices heard at the Town Council meeting tomorrow – Wednesday, January 11 – on our Land Development Regulations (LDRs).
LDRs govern the development and construction here on the Island and they haven’t been thoroughly reviewed for over 20 years! Town Commissioner Tucker Johnson is leading a review of the LDRs that give residents an opportunity to participate in determining the future of the Island.
There are issues, large and small, that affect our enjoyment of our Island home and how we revise our Town LDRs will determine some big changes, including issues many are currently debating like:
- The amount of construction on the Island; If grandfathered property should be brought more into compliance under the LDRs;
- Construction and delivery trucks blocking the roads; And what size and noise limitations should be placed on construction traffic;
- Construction waivers that allow noisy or otherwise intrusive construction during the “season” (November 1-May 1); How they are given and if there should be a limit to the number of waivers;
- And, current or potential subdivision of large parcels that will lead to increased density.
Your input is needed to help shape the future of these topics. Please come out and let your voice be heard tomorrow, January 11, 2023.
Sincerely,
Jupiter Island
